Time out for a Green and Yellow Moment...

 You often see blue-greens shown with only white accents or moldings and this makes them beautifully fresh. But how many of us live in only a white and aqua color scheme? Not many.  We have lots of wood, art, and past whims that make our homes personal and complicated. I blended Devine Almond on an art canvas, next to orange, to craft a blue-green with natural warmth that most blue-greens lack. This is why it is beautiful not only with white molding, but also Oak or Cherry. Computer screens are deceptive, so any color on screen will vary from computer to computer making it impossible know if it's really the color you had in mind. This picture seemed to capture the desire we all have to live in a perfect color state of mind.

I took my own color advice...

I always say if you love a color, why don't you marry it. We did a home remodel 5 years ago where I splashed shades of Tangerine Tango everywhere, especially on my floors. I have Devine Buffalo on my walls I have loved my colors for 5 years....but I was ready for something new. I wanted to accent my kitchen island, which attaches to a wide column that supports a gigantic TV. Yes, we are a TV family. We love movies...and sports (ok, only some of us love sports more than others, but we all love movies). Previously I had the entire enchilada disappear with Devine Gator--and it worked.

But this spring I was ready for something new. Then Tangerine Tango became all the rage and I realized I was craving more of that hot loving, blood red orange that I love. But how could that be? Wasn't it going to be too much? Is too much of a good thing bad? Sometimes it is and there is no way of knowing till you try it. So I dipped my toe and did just the column. It wasn't going to be enough for me....

And then I started on the island and my husband freaked out...STOP! He thought it would be toooo much. 

He wanted to go a lighter gray, like the walls. So I second-guessed myself, for a minute. Only for a minute and indulged him in his desire...

 
So here are the afters. I love my new Devine Lobster Island...and now, so does he.

Devine Miami Heat...

 
There were not enough hours in the day during my trip to Miami to capture everything I wanted to capture. But I want you to know I tried. I saw powder-puff vintage colors in art deco buildings, bright crisp Sunbrella hues as far as the eye could see in South Beach, and gorgeous glass buildings that seemed like they soaked up the ocean and shoot its water straight up to the sky. I got a chance to explore the up and coming gentrified downtown, kick back a smoothy in Coral Gables, eat fresh at Prime One Twelve (a table away from Dwight Howard and The Orlando Magic), share the best coconut gelato at The Betsy Hotel, visit the new Mr. Chows at The W Hotel, have the best martini at The Fontainebleau Pool Bar, do the local thing at Scotty’s Bar with conch fritters and beers and go to Larios known for the "best mojitos," stuff myself with traditional cuban food at Versailles, went to a birthday party in Palmetto Bay. Last but not least  got to take in the Miami Design District where a new luxe-shopping zone will open soon with Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and Dior stores. Below are more colorful glimpses of a Devine life in Miami…if my trip would have been during Art Basel Miami Beach my head would have popped off!
